Need help with Thyra?

  • The first time you turn on your speakers, you can choose any speaker to be your host simply by clicking the Thyra button (plus icon). The icon turns blue, indicating it is now your host.

Any nearby speaker on the same channel will become a join speaker and light up green.

  • The channel selector is part of the local settings menu on the speaker. Using the volume knob, you can manage all local settings:

    1. press = delay settings

    2. presses = volume offset

    3. presses = Stereo channel (Left / Mono / Right)

    4. presses = Channel selector

Simply select a suitable channel (speakers are using channel 1 by default), and pair one host with an unlimited number of joiners.

NB: Channel 0 should only be used together with the SOWA Microphone.

  • Solid blue = speaker is host.

Solid green = speaker has succesfully found a host on the channel.

Slowly blinking green = speaker is looking for a host on the selected channel.

  • Simply double press the Thyra button to swap role on a speaker.

NB: A join-speaker cannot become a host if there is already a nearby host playing nearby on the same channel. In this case, change to a new wireless channel using the volume knob and then double-press the Thyra button.

  • To change the host speaker, you first need to remove the current host. Do this by double pressing the Thyra button on it — the host will then switch to join mode. Next, pick any other speaker and double press its Thyra™ button to set it as the new host. All speakers in join mode on the same wireless channel will connect automatically.

  • Press the volume knob four times. This allows you to choose between the four fixed channels (CH1–CH4).

Only one host can operate on a channel within range — if two hosts use the same channel too close to each other, audio will stutter or drop out.

Troubleshooting

  • When the battery is completely empty, the speaker only charges at a very low fallback speed (5V). It needs to build up enough energy before the battery management system can start and negotiate higher USB-C PD power levels. This can take hours, during which the speaker may appear unresponsive. We always recommend charging the speaker before storage to avoid this.

  • Verify that speakers are turned on (the user interface will be lit). Press the power button on one or more speakers to turn them on. If a speaker won't turn on, charge the battery.

  • You have connected a microphone or playback device to an input, but the speaker is not playing?

→ Make sure that the speaker is in Host mode (Blue light in Thyra button).

→ Make sure that the speaker is turned up on “system volume” and if you are playing music from a phone, make sure it is also turned up.

→ If using a microphone, make sure that the receiver has a built-in pre amp as the SOWA XLR connectors expect a line-level signal. Otherwise you need to run the wireless receiver through a mixer.

  • When the Bluetooth icon is blinking, it is ready to be paired. When lighting solid white, it has succesfully connected.

Please note that you cannot connect any audio source to a join speaker.

  • At first you may experience that your SOWA speaker cannot make a full charge. No worries, this is completely normal and there is nothing wrong with your battery. This simply happens because the built-in battery management system needs to measure the full capacity of the battery.

Solution: Discharge your speakers completely and charge them again. After one cycle, the charging should be calibrated and show full power once again!
